Failure to Diagnose Testicular Torsion — Portland Medical Malpractice Lawyers
Testicular torsion is a condition that requires immediate treatment, usually through surgery. Misdiagnosis or delayed diagnosis of the condition can lead to permanent damage, infertility or even loss of the testicle.
If you or your child has been injured by the failure of a doctor to diagnose and treat testicular torsion, you may be entitled to compensation. At Miller & Wagner, LLP, our attorneys investigate and present damage claims for misdiagnosis, delayed diagnosis or failure to treat serious medical conditions such as testicular torsion. We offer a free initial consultation to discuss your case.
What Is Testicular Torsion?
Testicular torsion is caused by a twisting of the spermatic cord, resulting in reduced blood supply to the testes. While the condition can occur to men of any age, it is most common in young men between the ages of 12 and 16. Symptoms include severe pain and swelling.
When promptly diagnosed and treated, blood supply can usually be restored and the testicle saved with no permanent damage. Unfortunately, doctors usually only have a few hours to get it right. The longer the testes go without blood, the more likely they will be permanently damaged.
